On August 1, Director General of Mtavari TV, Nika Gvaramia aired a document, which he assumes was prepared by the State Security Service (SSS). It contains details of the personal lives of politicians, journalists, clerics and social activists. According to Gvaramia, the recordings contain dozens of conversations and reflect who, when and under what circumstances these individuals met. Georgian Dream leaders called Mtavari TV readout of State Security Service alleged surveillance reports on private lives of politicians and public figures "fake news".

“For me, this is another fake news and especially spread by the channel, the so-called media manager, who is in fact one of the leaders of the radical opposition political party. You remember Nika Gvaramia saying live on TV that he has used Rustavi 2 TV and journalists for political purposes. Today, it is not surprising that during the election period and for precisely political purposes, he spreads the disinformation that we see on a daily basis.
From what we have seen, this is another fake news, especially from Nika Gvaramia, who is one of the leaders of the radical opposition. In fact these are not records, these are texts that any person can manufacture.”
Gia Volski, Vice-Chairman of Parliament:
“Of course, if you want to destabilize the country, the media is not enough. It is necessary to create a sense of insecurity and instability throughout the country. So it was no surprise that such fabricated stories would come out of a man employed in this business and employed in fairly high positions in the old days.

Nika Gvaramia suggested that the reports were sanctioned by the Head of the SSS Grigol Liluashvili, his deputy Levan Akhobadze and the Director of the so-called Operative-technical Agency of SSS, Koba Kobadze.
The State Security Service declined Formula TV's request for a comment.
