Georgian Dream chair Irakli Kobakhidze once again doubled down on the Georgian government’s verbal attacks on Ukrainian government, indirectly blaming Ukraine for “failure to avoid” the war. Georgian Dream has also attacked Ukrainian leadership, as well as opposition at home for “attempts to drag Georgia into war.”
“I will remind about the situation in Ukraine today. The area of Russian occupation in Ukraine has expanded about 3-4 times already. Economic forecast: 45% decline, which leads to the reverse to 90s economic level in about one year. About 12.5 million Ukrainians no longer live in their homes, including approximately 4.5 million who have left the country. Can you imagine about half a million Georgians leaving the country, or more than a million not living at their homes? Politically the situation is extremely aggravated: there are open talks that they no longer aspire to NATO membership and so on. This is the situation in Ukraine.
When the top officials of the Ukrainian government say that they want to see Georgia in the same situation, we naturally have to react, and this reaction can neither be positive, nor mild,” Kobakhidze said.
