International Republican Institute (IRI) released public opinion survey, which was conducted in June 15-30. The sample consisted of 1,500 residents of Georgia aged 18 and older and eligible to vote. It is representative of the general population by age, gender, region and settlement size. The margin of error does not exceed +/-2.5%.
According to the findings, the prevalent perception of the interviewees for the past 6 years is that the country is heading in the wrong direction. The most recent, July survey suggested that 62% of respondents have the negative view about the development perspectives, which is up from 53% compared to the same period of the previous year.
As for the current economic situation of households, there is annual improvement, which shows that 42% of the interviewees answered that it is either very good, or somewhat good, compared to the 34% of the previous year.
Concerning the most acute problems of the society, mainly economic issues have been outlined, notably: unemployment, cost of living, high prices and poverty.
