Four MPs – joined today by five more – linked with Bidzina Ivanishvili who made themselves known by pushing outlandish conspiracy theories accusing the United States of conspiracy to “drag Georgia into war with Russia” have come up with newer and even bolder conspiracy.

Dimitri Khundadze, Mikheil Kavelashvili, Sozar Subari and Guram Matcharashvili have are now claiming the US offered Georgia to supply its Soviet-grade weapons to Ukraine and received more modern US equipment.

While many nations would be pleased with this kind of offer, the Ivanishvili MPs have declared that this alleged offer in itself constituted an attempt to drag Georgia into war.

The MPs again scolded the US ambassador for not explicitly denying that no such offer was on the table.

Giorgi Vashadze, leader of Strategy Aghmashenebeli party had earlier claimed the Georgian Government refused such offer and rejected a possibility to obtain modern western equipment for the Georgian Armed Forces in exchange of supplying Soviet-grade equipment from its stockpiles to Ukraine.

Commenting on the claim US Ambassador Kelly Degnan said “the recent claim about an alleged offer of new defensive equipment to Georgia is factually inaccurate.”

“We have never asked Georgia to open a second front. We have never pressured Georgia to be involved in this war,” she added.
