Legal team of Bidzina Ivanishvili, oligarch who continues to remain key decision-maker of the Georgian Government, published another letter advancing anti-western conspiracy theories and claiming Credit Suisse bank keeps Mr Ivanishvili “under informal sanctions.”
Georgian Dream leaders have at multiple occasions claimed the Swiss bank is limiting Mr Ivanishvi’s ability to manage his assets as part of a broader conspiracy to “force Georgia into a war with Russia.”
This time, Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs committee has accused the Swiss bank of running a “large scale fraudster scheme.”
MKD, the law firm earlier argued Credit Suisse de facto halted Mr Ivanishvili’s ability to manage his wealth in the bank following a European Parliament resolution last June in which the Parliament called the EU executive to sanction the oligarch.
However, according to the firm, some transactions were allowed after even stricter resolution in December until they were again brought to a halt.
The lawyers also said Credit Swiss “imitated negotiations” until December 2022.
Another resolution by European Parliament in December reiterated the call to sanction Mr Ivanishvili.
Amid the ongoing anti-west campaign, politicians from GD had claimed earlier that “certain forces” were pushing Ivanishvili back into Georgian politics and forcing him to get Georgia to join the war against Russia.
They had further hinted at the possible US involvement in the delay of an initial transfer of 600m USD to Ivanishvili.
