Mtavari TV and Imedi TV Publish Conflicting Exit Polls

Just as the polling stations closed on October 30, at 20:00 pm, for the mayoral runoffs in 5 major cities of Georgia, two TV channels issued conflicting results of exit polls: openly pro-government Imedi TV and opposition, government-critical Mtavari TV.  Margin of error is reported as +/- 2.5-3.0%, and the results are recorded for 18:00 pm.

Imedi TV has consistent track record of granting Georgian Dream several percentage points higher than eventual Central Election Commission results.

 

Tbilisi:

Kakha Kaladze - Georgian Dream - 49% (Mtavari TV); 57.2% (Imedi TV)

Nika Melia – United Opposition - 51% (Mtavari TV); 42.8% (Imedi TV)

 

Kutaisi:

Ioseb Khakhaleishvili - Georgian Dream - 47% (Mtavari TV); 51.9%; (Imedi TV)

Khatia Dekanoidze - United Opposition - 53% (Mtavari TV); 48.1% (Imedi TV)

 

Batumi:

Archil Chikovani - Georgian Dream - 49% (Mtavari TV); 50.8%; (Imedi TV)

Giorgi Kirtadze - United Opposition - 51% (Mtavari TV); 49.2%. (Imedi TV)

 

Rustavi:

Nino Latsabidze - Georgian Dream - 47% (Mtavari TV); 53.8%; (Imedi TV)

Davit Kirkitadze - United Opposition - 53% (Mtavari TV); 46.2% (Imedi TV)

 

Zugdidi:

Mamuka Tsotseria - Georgian Dream - 47% (Mtavari TV)

Anzor Melia - United Opposition - 53% (Mtavari TV)
