Mikheil Kavelashvili who recently split from Georgian Dream has written a letter to the US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan accusing of stirring up efforts to drag Georgia in launching war against Russia.

Mr Kavelashvili recently split from Georgian Dream together with two other MPs – Sozar Subari and Dimitri Khundadze. The three MPs said while they agreed with Georgian Dream and its policies they wished not to be burdened by its membership “in order to speak the truth” on the matter of efforts to drag Georgia into the war.

Their departure has been seen by the Georgian opposition as orchestrated by Georgian Dream and its informal leader oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili.

In the letter Mr Kavelashvili accuses Ambassador Degnan of supporting propping up political groups, NGOs, media and the Public Defender in their efforts to get Georgia launch a war effort against Russia.

Mr Kavelashvili also accused the United States in backing the Ukrainian Government’s efforts of “triggering turmoil in the Georgian society and triggering the revolutionary tendencies” “in line with the Bakuriani scenario.”

Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze had earlier alleged that the now late Chairman of the international Center for Non-Violent Conflict Peter Ackermann was directing a conspiracy to aimed at a coup d’état.

In the letter Mr Kavelashvili went ahead with directing allegations earlier voiced by Georgian Dream chair Irakli Kobakhidze at Ms Degnan. Kavelashvili specifically claimed that the EU candidacy which, in his words, gave Georgia no material benefits, was “being pushed artificially upon Georgia.”

The overall objective of this grand conspiracy orchestrated by the US Ambassador, according to Kavelashvili is to “get UNM back to power” also demanding public response from Ms Degnan.

Mr Khundadze is viewed as particularly close to Mr Ivanishvili. It was him who spearheaded Georgian Dream’s and Mr Ivanishvili’s personal reneging on its commitment to switch to the fully proportional system in 2019.

Ms Degnan had earlier stated any claims of US interest in getting Georgia into the war were "100% Russian disinformation."
