Otar Partskhaladze, the former Prosecutor-General and confidant of Bidzina Ivanishvili, has reportedly obtained Russian citizenship and runs a 50% stake in a Moscow-based brokerage firm, according to an investigation by TV Pirveli.

The claim is based on information from the Russian State Register.

Viktoria Bokeria, a Russian citizen and another shareholder in the company, made headlines when she met with members of the Russian State Duma to discuss the possible resumption of flights between Russia and Georgia in 2022. Her husband, Roman Bokeria, is the CEO of Georgian Airways, which has been actively lobbying for the resumption of flights.

The company has helped clients buy and sell businesses and real estate in Georgia, open bank accounts for investors, and buy businesses for the purpose of obtaining a Georgian residence permit or citizenship.

In 2017 Otar Partskhaladze oversaw the Georgian branch of Lukoil, one of the top five importers of Russian petrol into Georgia, a company later sanctioned by the US in 2022.

In 2017, Mr Partskhaladze physically assaulted Lasha Tordia, the head of the State Audit Office, with the butt of a pistol, but faced no consequences. Mr Tordia eventually emigrated to the USA.

Mr Partskhaladze was forced to resign in 2013 after the opposition revealed that he had previously been convicted of armed robbery in Germany.

Several Georgian NGOs have raised concerns about the corruption cases linked to Otar Partskhaladze.
